I don’t know what any of the buttons on the blender do. Crush, mix, whip, and chop mean nothing to me. Whenever I need to blend something I just hit a random button. This system has worked well enough my entire life.

I hear you. Sometimes, when I’m really bored (or drunk), I start with the slowest speed and keep pressing the next higher button until I get to the fastest speed. It’s like launching a rocket or increasing the throttle on a speed boat.
The impulse button is pretty cool too, when you need that sudden burst of speed to get away from the bad guy…um..err..to crush that extra stubborn ice cube. Ya, that’s it.
No, I’m not drunk rights now.
The only button I need on my blender should say “Margarita”. That’s all I need to know.

I think that our blender might possibly be “crappy” in that it doesn’t really matter what button you hit – it’s either just on, or just off. : )
