Happy New Years!

Friday night was our SNU Christmas/New Year’s/Reunion party. Since our graduation last May, several of my fellow graduates have got promotions or new jobs as a direct result of earning their degree. I was really looking forward to seeing everybody and finding out how they have been doing since graduation. Apparently I was wanting to see everybody else more than they were wanting to see me! Out of 23 graduates, 5 of us showed up for the party — and 3 of us planned the stinkin’ thing! The party was supposed to be a pot luck dinner, but since we only had eight 2 liters of pop, a vegetable tray and bowl of eclairs we ended up moving the party to Chili’s instead.

Saturday night, New Year’s Eve, was much better. Dad brought over three pounds of crabs and three pounds of shrimp from his own cancelled New Year’s party, so between that and all the left over pop, food and beer we had bought for the night before, we had the makings of a pretty good party!

Strippers hanging from the ceiling, gun shots, fireworks … we had none of that. Instead, Dad, Susan and I spent the night sitting around the table chatting, eating tons of crab and shrimp, and playing Texas Hold ‘Em with the new set of poker chips Susan got me for Christmas. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year.

EDIT: Here are the last 3 pix I took in 2005.
