I am HOT

Well, not me so much as the temperature. According to 9online.com’s 7 day forecast the high for today is 104 degrees, followed by highs of 105 for Tuesday and 103 Wednesday. By Friday it’s supposed to “get down” to 100. As Matthew Broderick once said, “it’s like Africa hot.” Yesterday while out driving the thermometer in my truck’s rear view mirror read 103 degrees. I’ve been pushing back my walking times further and further. At 10pm it’s still 85 degrees outside right now. I don’t know if this is due to global warming, El Nino, or if it’s just a hot summer, but regardless of the reason, it’s hot. Are we still supposed to blame weird weather cycles on El Nino or are we over that now? Not sure on that one.

Sunday Dad, Mason and I drove to Norman to pick up some shelves I found for sale on Craig’s list. I wish I’d taken a picture as they’re kind of hard to describe. They’re not very tall (maybe waist high), they’re black, and they look modular but they’re not. There are three small sections (left, middle and right) and the middle section comes up higher than the two sides. It looks like they are intended to hold a small stereo and a television on top (a 20″ or smaller, I’m guessing) but when I saw them I thought they would make an awesome AV rack for my upstairs equipment. The three of us roadtripped it to Norman, ate lunch at Goldies and then went to pick up the shelves. Once back home, I (with some “help” from Mason) put the shelves upstairs and transferred my AV equipment (stereo receiver/amplifier, DVD player, VCR, 5 disc CD changer, and record player) over to the unit. My laserdisc player doesn’t fit, but that’s okay — the only reason I bought a laserdisc player was to pick up the original Star Wars films in laserdisc format (which I never did), and not only do I have bootleg transfers of the original trilogy from laserdisc to DVD, but the original films are about to be released unedited for the first time this fall on DVD. With no real need for a laserdisc player now, I plan on selling it at this year’s OVGE show this August.

Today (Monday) some people are supposed to come out and fix our pool, which we have been dying to use. It started with uncleanable water and ended with the liner falling apart. It’s going to cost us a couple hundred dollars to get a new liner put in, but without it we have a 27′ hole that’s getting worse every day, so we decided it was time to bite the bullet and get it fixed before the walls start caving in or something else really goes wrong.
