Garage Shelves from Lowes

In 12 hours we’ve received 12 inches of snow here in Oklahoma. This morning I spent a little time warming up in the garage while taking a snow-shoveling break, and thought I would snap and share a couple of pictures of the shelves I use out in my garage.

These are Edsal Steel Freestanding Shelving Units, which I purchased from Lowes for $66 each. I own three of these units — this is two of them.

Unlike some of the cheaper shelving units you may run across, these are heavy duty enough to stand on their own. I actually use them as a divider in my three-car garage, running between the two garage doors. As you can see, I have the shelves loaded down with books, papers, old computer equipment, and even some old televisions. These will hold it all. And, if you install them like I did in the middle of an area, they are deep enough that you can use them from either side. The other side of these shelves have gardening tools and other odds and ends.

The other shelf is near the front of my garage and contains more computer parts along with old computer monitors. The only time I’ve seen these shelves sag at all is when I loaded up one with six car batteries while working on my golf cart. Other than that, they don’t bat an eye at being loaded down. These are great for garages and can hold a lot of tools.

The best part is, you assemble them with a rubber mallet. I’m pretty sure I assembled each one in less than 15 minutes. Quick, simple, and relatively inexpensive.
