I Rule the School

Ok, maybe not ruling, but I sure am enjoying it.

I had forgotten how much I enjoy going to college. Right now we’re still getting into the swing of things by doing a lot of reading and talking, but our next module has a lot of writing which I’m really looking forward to. We’ve already turned in an autobiography, and in our next module we have to write “life learning papers.” Fortunately, they have to be written about one of my favorite subjects — me! Of course everybody else’s will be about them.

When I walked into SNU my goal was to keep my head down, stir no waves and make no friends. That lasted about … oh, 38 seconds or so. Last week I was elected “Class Representative” of our class. Despite my efforts to “lay low”, I’ve already made friends with a lot of people. SNU is not a traditional classroom. So far at least, our classes aren’t set up for quiet and reserved people. Everyone is expected to talk, listen, and communicate. Of course, this could have something to do with the fact that our first class is Interpersonal Communication

It’s been a little difficult getting back “into the flow” of school. We only meet once a week (Wednesday night) and I’ve already found myself beginning homework assignments late Tuesday or Wednesday at work. I’m sure I’ll get back into the swing of it in no time.

Last night one of our classmates told us that his 7 month-old son is going in for his fourth surgery next Monday. This one is to remove much of his colon. I thought about that a lot on the way home last night from class. I kissed Mason on the forehead when I got home, even though he was already asleep.
