Kansas

I'm pretty sure the first time I drove through Kansas was during my relocation from Oklahoma to Washington State. It's possible I was there prior to that, but I don't think so. One interesting fact is that although I have been to Kansas City, Missouri many times for work, rarely to I make it across the border to the Kansas side of Kansas City when I go there. I have, however, been to Wichita at least twice for work. I also drove through Kansas every time I drove to Washington, and every time I drove to Denver.

In either 2004 or 2003, I purchased four jukeboxes from a fellow in Hutchinson, Kansas. With my Dad's trailer attached to my Isuzu Rodeo I drove to Hutchison, picked up the jukeboxes, turned around and came home.

Mason and I also went to Wichita to see Weird Al perform live.

On our way home from our Alaska cruise this summer (2012) we ended up driving through Cawker, Kansas and stumbled across "The World's Largest Ball of Twine." Apparently that title in in dispute, but that's what the sign read so I'm sticking to it.

In the Fall of 2014 we drove through Kansas (again) on our way to Colorado.

In the Spring of 2015 we drove through Kansas and stopped to see the "largest Coke can."

We also stopped to see Truckhenge which was an adventure I'll be writing about on the blog soon.

In the summer of 2023, Susan and I took a road trip to Minnesota. We stopped and saw several things in Kansas during that trip, including the Evel Knievel Museum in Topeka and the Pizza Hut Museum in Wichita. We also stopped and ate at Bobo's Drive In, a place that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
