Did you ever see the movie? I didn't care for it the first time around, but watching it the second time I loved it. I wanna watch it over and over now. And in HD it looks amazing. And the documentaries on it are really cool. Showed all kinds of pictures and evidence I've never seen before and interviews with the victims and the cops.
Somebody on there brought up something I've never thought of before. He only wore that Zodiac costume once when he stabbed the kids at Lake Berryesa. The thing is, he tied these kids up and stabbed them a bunch of times, he fully intended to kill them, plain and simple. Only by miracle did the boy live and did the girl hang on long enough to give a description. So why did he spend so much time and effort to make this scary, over the top suit? There weren't going to be any witnesses, he had no intention of letting them live, nobody else was around, it didn't matter if they saw his face. Yet he sewed up this crazy ass suit anyway just because he wanted to wear it and look awesome.
And THAT is why I'm obsessed with the Zodiac over all these other crappy serial killers. He's a friggin Batman villain. Only in a comic book would somebody make a suit like that. Any other serial killer would just wear a ski mask. Not Zodiac. Zodiac made his own costume with his own logo on the front for no reason other than to look like a bad ass. And if those kids had died, nobody would've known he wore it.

http://www.zodiackiller.com/I've seen the movie and have read a few things. I haven't read any books because I am not sure which ones to read. Some people wil say "this is the best one!" and others will say that one is shit and full of misinformation.
Robert Graysmith's books Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked are the ones to read. Zodiac in particular. It's just a complete, straight forward account of the entire case up until 1986. His goal with the book was to just compile all the evidence, not just to sell, but to help the police as well. Part of the reason he was never caught was because all the killings were in different counties so all those different police forces never fully co-operated and passed along all the info to each other. Almost everybody in the case have said they learned something they didn't know about from that book. So it's kinda like a text book, but it's still a good read.
The second one, Unmasked, is the one where he's trying to prove the theory that Arthur Leigh Allen was Zodiac and that's the one people have problems with.
While reading Unmasked I was looking around at some stuff on zk.com. I watched their task force meeting thing. I read some other places. I saw all these people who were saying that Graysmith blatantly lied, twisted facts or made stuff up all to prove Allen was the killer. I started thinking, man, why should I bother reading this if it's not true?
Then it dawned on me who these people are. They're the same type of people who refuse to accept 9/11 was a terrorist attack. They're the same type of people who can't accept Oswald shot JFK. These are people who refuse to accept the truth no matter how much scientific fact is shoved into their faces because their whole social life is based around trying to prove these conspiracy theories. Those people who pay money to sit around on the zodiac killer message board all day long and play internet detective do not want Allen, or anybody else, to be the killer because if he is they have no reason to hang out in their tree fort fighting monsters anymore.
Robert Graysmith has lived and breathed this case from day one and has done more research than anybody, including the police. He believes Allen was the killer, every single detective on the case believes it, and the only victim who saw his face and lived positively ID'ed him as the man who shot him. Sorry, but I'm not siding with the skeptics on this one. haha
