Despite the fact that my Windows XP directory is over 2 gigs in size, Microsoft still refuses to include an easy way to copy files and directories to a text file or the clipboard. ShadowPrint does just that. By browsing through your hard drive, you can now easily cut/paste, save, or print the files and folders located on your hard drive. ShadowPrint was originally written by me for my father's use (the Shadow, thus the name). The public release version adds even more features and makes getting a directory list even simpler than ever before.
The left hand side of ShadowPrint contains a drive select box. Choose the drive you wish to browse. Directly underneath that box is the directory select box. Using that box, double-click folders until you find the directory you wish to browse. While you are selecting folders, you should see the data in the text window changing. That means it's working! By default, ShadowPrint shows all files AND folders within a directory (see ShadowPrint Options for more details). The data that appears in the text box can be copied and pasted into other documents, or you can export the data by using one of the available ShadowPrint buttons (see ShadowPrint Buttons for more details).
ShadowPrint has a few options built in which make sorting your data a little easier. The first is the ability to select whether you wish you see files and folders, files only, or folders only. You can do this with the radio buttons in the top right hand corner of the interface. Select the one you wish to use, and the data in the text window will automatically update itself. The other option available is a simple filemask, useful if you only wish to find files of a particular extension (*.mp3, for example). The default is *.* (all files) when there is no check mark next to "Enable FileMask".
In addition to the Options side, there are also four buttons on the interface.
Print - Prints the textbox to your printer. This button assumes you have a working printer connected.
Save - Allows you to easily and quickly save the contents of the textbox to a file.
Copy to Clipboard - Basically the same thing as highlighting all the text and hitting "copy". Once you've copied the text to clipboard, you can open any other application and select "paste".
