Episode 112 is all about Photon, the old laser tag game from the 80s. Photon began opening franchised game arenas in 1985 and filed for bankruptcy in 1989, but during that time there were many weekends where I could be found hanging out at our local Oklahoma City Photon Arena. In 2008, a fellow by the name of Jim Strother built a new Photon arena in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I managed to visit the center shortly before it opened. Although the arena’s time was short-lived (it was only open for about nine weeks). All of this and more is covered in my latest podcast.
I’ve always wanted to go to a laser tag game ever since college but never got around to it. Laser Quest is still around in Montreal, but I don’t know if anyone actually goes there ever…
My husband was reminiscing about Photon and we found your site. It sure does bring back very fond memories for us as we met at the OKC Photon and have now been married to each other for almost 25 years now.
