Posted by RobOHara ( @Commodork) on November 13th, 2012 in Mason and Morgan Both Mason and Morgan’s schools had Veterans Day programs yesterday. The kids were asked to invite any Veterans from their family, which included both of their living grandpas. The day began at Morgan’s school, where kids, Veterans, and kids’ parents were treated to juice and donuts for breakfast. After that, we filed into the gym for the program. The second graders sang two songs, and Morgan was very excited to get to hold up “the capital A.” “They’re all capitals,” I said. “Yeah, but I’m first,” said Morgan. Later in the afternoon it was off to Mason’s school. You might… (read more)
Posted by RobOHara ( @Commodork) on November 9th, 2012 in Adventures Mason was only a year-and-a-half old in 2003 when Susan and I made the decision to sell our ’96 Dodge Neon and upgrade to a more family friendly vehicle. After doing some market research, we settled on the Honda Odyssey minivan. I don’t know that deciding it’s time to own a minivan is a particularly proud moment in any man’s life, but Honda lessened the blow by offering leather seats with seat warmers, automatic sliding doors, a six-disc changer, a DVD player with a flip down screen, and eleven cup holders. Posted by RobOHara ( @Commodork) on November 7th, 2012 in Main Yesterday was the first time I ever voted for the first time in a Presidential election. I’ve never voted before because despite what people say, it doesn’t feel that my vote matters much here. During yesterday’s election Mitt Romney won all 77 counties here in Oklahoma, with a popular vote of of essentially 2/3 of voters. People always say “if you don’t vote, don’t complain.” Well, I never… (read more)
Posted by RobOHara ( @Commodork) on November 5th, 2012 in Adventures Due to high (read: none) demand, I have created a new area of the website in which I track every states I’ve ever visited! There’s a link to it over on the left hand side now — or, you can simply click here). To date, I’ve been to 41 of the 50 states (not including DC or the few times I’ve been out of the country). I spent a few hours Sunday creating a short entry for each state I’ve visited. For each one I noted the first and last time I had visited the state, and included pictures where… (read more)
This morning on Facebook one of my friends forwarded me the link to a news story on MSN.com. The story is about video games as financial investments, and references the current auction of an Air Raid cartridge which is currently selling for $20,000. I wrote a bit about the last Air Raid cart found, which sold for $36k. That’s not really the story here. When I clicked on the link, I saw something familiar — a picture of my old game room! Here is a link to the article. It’s always surprising to see a picture of the inside of… (read more)
