I Can See For Miles and Miles …

For some time at work now I’ve been running dual monitors and I love it. The extra pixel real estate is like gold. I can’t tell you how many times I appreciate it on a daily basis. While doing day to day tasks, I can work on one monitor and keep my e-mail open on the other. When programming, I can write code on one monitor and test things on the other. I love me some dual monitors … but at home, things haven’t gone as well. The first problem at home is, my monitors aren’t as nice as the ones I have at work. They’re smaller and less powerful. The other problem I have is, I watch a lot of movies on my computer at home, and watching a movie inside a window (or worse, split across two screens) kind of stinks. I decided a while back that if and when I found a big monitor on sale, I was going to pick it up. TigerDirect didn’t disappoint this week — when this monster went on sale, I couldn’t resist it.

That’s an I-INC 28″ monitor. It’s actually on the verge of being a little too big. I had to push it all the way back on my desk’s already shallow monitor shelf, and I’ve already found myself having to look “up” and “down” more than usual to find stuff on screen. As far as quality goes I’ve had no issues; the thing looks great, and it’s definitely big. I’m hoping the monitor’s size compensates for going back to running one monitor.
