Registered for Notacon!

Over the weekend I got a little bit closer to another one of my New Year’s Resolutions by pre-registering for Notacon, the “hacker con” I mentioned in my resolution list that takes place April 16th-19th in Cleveland, Ohio. One of the main reasons I’m going is to attend (and compete in) Blockparty.

Blockparty has the following categories: demo, oldschool demo, HiRez, textmode, music, photography, and wildcard. Out of those seven categories, I will definitely be entering in three: music, photography, and wildcard. I have no business entering in the oldschool demo, HiRez or textmode categories. There is a possibility I might enter a demo (seeing as though Blockparty is a demo party), but without any serious coding skills, entering this category would be for fun and not to seriously try and compete to win in.

While it might seem like a nightmare to some, I am also looking forward to entering in the Notacon contest, “Who’s Slide Is It Anyway?”, a “contest” of sorts where presenters (me and people like me) get up in front of hundreds of people and give an impromptu presentation about a random topic complete with a Powerpoint presentation which the presenter has never seen before. Sounds like fun to me, although I might need a Rum and Coke first. The other two things I’m looking forward to doing at Notacon are the lockpick room (where people learn how to pick locks) and helping out with the Notacon Radio Station, which is open for people to do radio shows.

  • Damn. I’d really like to attend, but I don’t think I can swing it. Maybe we’ll see when it gets closer to April.

If I don’t have a chance to say it in person, good luck!
