Viva Las Vegas!

I have had a lot of great birthday surprises over the years, but never anything quite like this I don’t think.

Yesterday was my 9th wedding anniversary, and Sunday, August 22nd is my 31st birthday. Susan decided we would roll both events together into one big party and celebrate by going and seeing Penn and Teller.

In Vegas.

In three hours, I’ll be getting on a plane for the first time in … six years? I have a handfull of Valium waiting for me — I’m hoping that makes the flight if not more enjoyable, at least less terrifying. I’ve got my little bag with my MP3 player, my little portable game machine, my digital camera, my cell phone, and my Palm Pilot. If something in that pile can’t keep my occupied, I’m screwed. Unless, of course, one of them interferes with the electronics on the plane and brings it plummeting to the ground …

From there, it’s sin city, baby — well, as much of sin city as one can see with their wife, I suppose. We’ve got a lot of gamblin’, eatin’, and sightseein’ to cram into just over 36 hours.

We’ll be staying at New York, New York, which is a pretty cool casino from what I’ve heard. According to my friend Justin, it connects to the MGM Grand via a bridge. Sounds like we’ll be pretty set, even if we don’t venture out too far.
