I have two completely separate adventures taking place this weekend.
Friday, I am attending “mentor training”. For those who don’t know, I volunteered to mentor a co-worker’s son. Friday will be the first day he’s been allowed to have company in the past six weeks. Nick is currently staying at Thunderbird Military Academy in Pryor, Oklahoma. Friday, I’ll be attending training all day in Pryor and that afternoon I’ll get to hang out and talk with Nick a bit.
Saturday, is OKGE (Oklahoma Gaming Exhibition). I’ll be an exhibitor there, showing off my console copier collection. Most people have never even seen one console copier — I’m taking all six of mine. I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of the guys I talk to on the Internet on a regular basis. I have friends from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Kansas all coming to attend this convention. There’s something really awesome about meeting a person and realizing that as a kid you both played the same games and enjoyed the same stuff. It somehow turns complete strangers into long time friends. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.
